The client is inviting applications for the Director of the School of Electrical & Computer Engineering (ECE). The Director will provide comprehensive oversight of ECE’s academic, research, and public engagement enterprises and will help advance ECE’s mission, vision, and commitments. ECE offers ABET-accredited undergraduate degree programs, accelerated BS/MS options, and graduate programs, and includes a growing community of faculty, graduate students, and undergraduate majors.
The Director will lead strategic direction for academic excellence, research productivity, and international impact while supporting an active student environment that includes competition teams, student organizations, and research activities. Responsibilities will include representing ECE effectively across college and university levels, promoting student success, advancing cutting-edge research, strengthening faculty research, and ensuring secure research practices. The Director is also expected to communicate clearly with faculty, staff, students, senior university administrators, alumni, philanthropic donors, and federal and industry partners.
Candidates are expected to hold a Ph.D. in Electrical Engineering, Electrical & Computer Engineering, or a closely related field, along with a distinguished record of scholarly achievement consistent with appointment as a tenured Full Professor at an R1 institution. Preferred qualifications include demonstrated leadership and advocacy, administrative experience managing budgets, facilities, personnel, and programs with transparency, and the ability to develop and execute a forward-looking multi-year roadmap for hiring, research, instruction, and service. The role will also benefit from experience supervising online educational content preparation, awareness of innovative teaching methods and educational technology, proven ability to attract and retain strong faculty and staff, commitment to shared governance, and experience building external partnerships with industry and government collaborators.
