The client is seeking a Director of Education & Community Engagement to provide strategic vision, leadership, and operational management for all arts education and community engagement initiatives. The role blends field education with administrative leadership, overseeing PreK–12 arts programs, higher education partnerships, and community programming for youth through older adults. Working to support diversity and inclusion, the director will help ensure cohesive program infrastructure and consistent, high-quality delivery across in-school and out-of-school settings and community spaces.
The director will design, manage, and implement a robust creative learning program portfolio, helping expand reach, impact, and long-term sustainability. Core responsibilities include strategic planning and infrastructure development in collaboration with leadership, maintaining standardized annual program calendars, and creating curriculum frameworks and program guides. The role also manages in-school offerings such as school residencies, workshops, assemblies, educator professional development, and higher education partnerships, as well as out-of-school time youth programs, open classes, and intergenerational initiatives.
Key duties include leading classes, workshops, and residencies in the field, developing authentic connections in community and school spaces, and maintaining archives of lesson plans and learning materials. The director will proactively cultivate and secure strategic partnerships across educational and community organizations, support project budget development and workflow systems, and collaborate on revenue goals and grant support. This position also involves maintaining a roster of teaching artists and teaching artist capacity to support program delivery.
