The client is seeking an accomplished senior leader to serve as its Director of Economic Development and Regeneration. Reporting to the Executive Director, Place, you will lead The client’s economic development, regeneration, employment, skills, and adult learning functions, helping to deliver ambitions within strategic plans and growth programmes.
You will provide leadership across a diverse portfolio including regeneration and place-shaping initiatives, town centres, business engagement, employment and skills programmes, inward investment, affordable workspace, social value, partnership development, and ongoing delivery of the borough’s economic growth agenda. Working with elected members, local communities, businesses, educational institutions, and regional partners, you will help ensure that investment and development create meaningful opportunities for residents and support sustainable economic growth.
Required qualifications include a successful track record of leadership within economic development, regeneration, growth, planning, housing, development, infrastructure, or related place-based services; experience developing and delivering strategies in complex stakeholder environments; and the ability to build and maintain strong partnerships across public, private, academic, and voluntary sectors. You should also have experience leading major programmes to secure positive outcomes through collaboration and influence, strong commercial, financial, and programme management skills, political awareness for a high-profile local government environment, and a commitment to inclusive growth and accessible economic opportunity for all communities.
