The client is seeking a Director of Early Childhood Learning & Development to provide strategic leadership for early learning and development practices for children from birth through age eight and the adults who care for them. This exempt, salaried, full-time role will champion research-informed, play-based learning experiences that support early childhood education, family engagement, and informal learning. The Director will serve as a thought leader and ambassador for The client, representing the organization in early childhood learning conversations at local, regional, and national levels.
Working collaboratively across the organization, the Director will develop innovative learning experiences, cultivate strategic partnerships, and ensure that exhibits, programs, and professional learning opportunities reflect current research, equity-centered practices, and the developmental needs of young children. Core responsibilities include developing and implementing early childhood programming and engagement approaches aligned to The client’s mission and strategic priorities, shaping the redesign of the early childhood area, and activating relevant museum spaces with hands-on, playful learning experiences for young children and families.
The Director will identify emerging trends and translate research and innovations into museum practice, expand programming focused on reaching caregivers and childcare professionals, and integrate culturally responsive and accessible practices throughout educational offerings. The role will also include collaborating with exhibit designers, educators, researchers, and community partners to create inclusive and developmentally appropriate experiences, translating evaluation findings into practical strategies, and building and sustaining partnerships with early learning providers and community agencies. The Director is expected to provide leadership and mentorship for education staff and cross-functional teams and to develop professional learning opportunities that strengthen practitioner knowledge of child development, facilitation, and family engagement.
