Description

the client is seeking a Director of Digital to lead its digital products and platforms, including grants management, CRM, museum and cultural property services, the digital workplace, and new AI-enabled capabilities. Reporting to the Chief Digital & Information Officer, the role provides strategy, investment decision-making, and governance to ensure these services are reliable, secure, accessible, and aligned with public-sector requirements. These digital services support the client’s ability to fund and support the sector while serving applicants, funded organizations, staff, and partners.

Key responsibilities include setting the vision and strategy for the digital product and platform portfolio, owning priorities and balancing day-to-day service needs with longer-term change. The director will lead and govern delivery across “run and improve” services and major transformation programs, ensuring value for money, accessibility, security, data protection, and appropriate assurance. Working closely with the Technology Director, the role aligns product direction with architecture, operational resilience, and service performance, and acts as the senior voice for business needs in digital delivery decisions.

The director will lead major digital change, including modernizing legacy systems, improving integrations, and enhancing data quality, while sponsoring innovation such as AI and automation through controlled trials and scaling what works. The position also includes managing budgets and suppliers to maintain strong contract performance and commercial discipline, developing and coaching a high-performing, inclusive digital team, and planning capacity and succession for key roles. The successful applicant is expected to be an executive-level, strategic, and credible leader who can communicate clearly across technical and non-technical audiences, lead user-centered digital delivery, and build alignment with senior stakeholders, executive governance forums, and delivery partners.
