Description

The client is seeking a seasoned, compassionate Director of Development to champion its mission and provide strategic direction and leadership for all fundraising and stewardship activities. This hands-on role is designed for an entrepreneurial chief development officer who can craft and implement a comprehensive fundraising strategy and deliver transformative impact through mission-centered, trauma-informed leadership. The client is entering an exciting period of strategic refinement, including the launch of a new strategic plan to deepen community engagement and expand partnership and investment opportunities for prospective donors.

The Director of Development will lead the full portfolio of fundraising operations and ensure development efforts reflect and uplift the client’s values and mission. Reporting to the Executive Director and serving as a key part of the executive team, the role will include growing and diversifying revenue streams by strengthening ties with existing supporters, developing effective approaches to identify new individual and institutional donors, and broadening overall outreach. The Director will collaborate closely with the Executive Director, board, and key stakeholders to assess and define the strategic direction of the development function and create a comprehensive development program.

Key responsibilities include launching systematic initiatives to build and cultivate a strong donor pipeline, enhancing public awareness, and strengthening relationships and partnerships to advance the client’s philanthropic goals. The role is expected to bring experience engaging and building support from non-affinity donors and to operate effectively in a resource-conscious environment, with the ability to adapt quickly to external changes in the political context. The successful candidate will be able to communicate the mission and critical impact in an inspiring manner and will be skilled at building genuine relationships with individuals and communities of all backgrounds while advancing equitable, survivor-centered outcomes.
