The client seeks a strategic, systems-oriented Director of Development to lead all fundraising activities. This role designs, implements, and manages a comprehensive development program that includes major gifts, annual fund, institutional giving, and capital campaigns, working in alignment with the organization’s mission, vision, and values. The Director of Development will develop the case for support and strategic fundraising plans, integrating giving programs to diversify the funding base and strengthen donor commitment.
Key responsibilities include leading fundraising initiatives such as annual campaigns, major gifts, institutional grants, and capital efforts, while building and maintaining strong donor relationships with individuals, foundations, and corporate sponsors. The role will manage donor touchpoints, including personalized outreach, events, and recognition, and will guide and support senior leadership and the Board in donor engagement and solicitation strategies. It also involves helping prepare key staff and constituents to participate effectively in fundraising activities and contributing to the development of fundraising collateral, case statements, grant applications, and donor communications.
The Director of Development will build the operational backbone for fundraising by designing and implementing systems, tools, and workflows to manage the full fundraising lifecycle—from prospecting and cultivation through solicitation, stewardship, and reporting. This includes daily oversight and implementation of a fundraising CRM/database for accurate tracking of donor and prospect activity, along with maintaining compliance-focused systems for contributions, pledges, and donor communications. The role also ensures timely and accurate gift processing and acknowledgments, prepares regular reports on progress and campaign performance, and supports Board fundraising efforts including prospect identification and cultivation opportunities; candidates are expected to bring proven nonprofit fundraising success and demonstrated ability to build and optimize development systems and infrastructure.
