the client seeks a Director of Development to lead and oversee fundraising and development activities in support of its mission and goals. Reporting to the Executive Director, the role will guide donor engagement and fundraising strategy, helping advance a culture of philanthropy through information, education, support, and advocacy efforts.
The Director of Development will plan, direct, and implement a comprehensive fundraising program to increase revenue through individual, corporate, foundation, and government support. Responsibilities include identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors in alignment with the client’s priorities, as well as advancing donor relationships and long-term support. The position also includes campaign planning and execution, prospect management, and securing major gifts.
The ideal candidate will have a bachelor’s degree preferred and at least 8 years of progressive nonprofit fundraising experience, including management and major donor experience. Additional qualifications include at least 5 years of supervisory experience, a proven track record of fundraising success (including building fundraising programs and campaign work), experience organizing high-profile fundraising events, and strong communication skills for presentations and persuasive writing. Proficiency with MS Office and fundraising databases/CRM tools is expected, along with the ability to manage multiple priorities in a fast-paced environment; integrity, initiative, and creativity; and a willingness to travel as needed.
