The Director of Development is tasked with spearheading a comprehensive national fundraising program for the client, aimed at building a long-term, sustainable philanthropic revenue growth strategy aligned with the clients mission. This role involves cultivating donor relationships, securing funding from various constituencies, and collaborating with internal teams to integrate communications, operations, and stewardship efforts seamlessly. By engaging advisory council members and executive leaders in outreach activities, the Director of Development will maximize the clients impact in philanthropy. They will work under the guidance of the Senior Director of Philanthropy Strategy and closely with the CEO of the client, alongside the broader Philanthropy Services team.
A strategic aspect of the role involves crafting and implementing a multi-year fundraising strategy to attract and secure funding from individuals, foundations, and corporations. The Director will advise leadership on fundraising trends and donor insights to refine strategy and resource planning. Building and managing a donor portfolio, the role demands fluency in complex giving vehicles and advising donors on strategic giving opportunities. Prepared solicitations and stewarding current advisory council and board members form key responsibilities, alongside organizing tailored donor events that engage and enhance relationships with major donors.
The Director of Development will integrate board and leadership engagement by identifying and cultivating new advisory council members and developing structured approaches for executive leader involvement in donor-related activities. Cross-functional alignment is crucial, necessitating partnership with internal teams and stakeholders to create compelling fundraising materials and ensure alignment with strategic priorities. In addition, the role encompasses maintaining strategic reporting on donor relations and revenue generation to inform and guide leadership decision-making. The Director will provide leadership to foster inter-team communications and collaboration between the clients team and the broader Philanthropy Services team.
