The client is seeking a Director of Development to lead fundraising strategy with a primary focus on donor relationships, major gifts, and corporate partnerships. This is a highly external, donor-facing role serving as an ambassador for the organization and securing philanthropic investments through proactive, strategic engagement.
Key responsibilities include dedicating 60–70% of time to donor-facing activities such as meetings and relationship management; managing and growing a portfolio of approximately 75–125 donors and prospects; identifying, cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding major gift opportunities; and leading and growing the organization’s Major Gifts Program. The role also develops and executes strategies to improve donor retention, increase and upgrade giving, diversify funding streams, and expand the donor base, while driving fundraising revenue across individual giving, major gifts, sponsorships, campaigns, and grants.
The Director of Development will partner with the Executive Director and Board of Directors on fundraising strategy and donor engagement, oversee donor pipeline management and accurate donor records using DonorPerfect, and collaborate on donor communications, fundraising initiatives, newsletters, and impact storytelling. They will also coordinate grant management activities including funder relationships, applications, reporting, and deadlines; track fundraising performance and analyze donor data to adjust strategies; and maintain strong organizational and time management skills. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in a related field, at least five years of professional experience in fund development, proven success building long-term donor relationships, and proficiency with DonorPerfect and Microsoft 365; Act 34 Criminal History and Act 151 Child Abuse clearances and a valid driver’s license are required.
