The client has partnered with a leading research and educational center to recruit a Director of Development Marketing. The role leads the creation and execution of marketing and communications strategies that support the philanthropic goals of the organization, reporting to the Vice President of Philanthropic Engagement. This newly created position supports a growing development team and expanded communications needs as individual giving initiatives, a giving society, and regional presence continue to develop.
The Director will serve as the primary marketing resource for the development team, working closely with colleagues across New York and regional offices, while coordinating with the broader marketing and communications team to ensure brand alignment. The role focuses on communicating organizational impact to donors and partners, including oversight of annual and impact reports, donor communications, digital fundraising campaigns, and other strategic promotional collateral. The work requires strong organization and attention to detail, exceptional writing, design, and communication skills, and the ability to translate complex programs into clear, compelling donor-facing messaging while responding quickly to shifting priorities and time-sensitive needs.
Key responsibilities include leading the development and production of annual reports by gathering stories and information across the organization (including program teams), creating donor-focused impact reporting, and developing donor-facing materials such as campaign collateral, case statements, presentations, event invitations, and stewardship pieces. The Director will partner with development staff to create promotional messaging for new initiatives and evolving fundraising efforts, including planned giving initiatives, and may support the drafting and review of donor proposals in collaboration with relevant foundation relations stakeholders. Consistent branding, language, and messaging across regional communications is expected, supporting development teams across multiple geographic locations.
