The client is seeking a Director of Development to serve as a trusted senior partner to the Dean and a catalyst for impact within the Faculty of Veterinary Medicine. Reporting to the Senior Director of Development, the role shapes and executes a faculty-wide philanthropic strategy that advances both faculty and university priorities, and provides senior leadership in advancement planning and donor engagement.
The Director of Development will establish, lead, and execute strategic advancement plans aligned with faculty and institutional priorities. Key responsibilities include directing fundraising priorities and approaches, personally managing a portfolio of major and principal gift donors, and cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding six- and seven-figure gifts. The role also involves building and maintaining relationships with alumni, corporations, foundations, community leaders, and volunteers, while advising faculty leadership on philanthropic strategy and fundraising best practices.
Additional responsibilities include navigating complex stakeholder dynamics with a constructive and respectful approach, ensuring effective donor stewardship, recognition, and reporting in line with institutional policies and ethical standards, and aligning all activity with prospect management protocols and compliance requirements. The Director of Development will oversee donor recognition initiatives, ensure activities are tracked and reported per established protocols, and lead, mentor, and support Development and Alumni staff by setting clear expectations, roles, and processes to strengthen overall effectiveness.
