The client is seeking an experienced, hands-on Director of Construction to lead and support construction projects for a growing portfolio of restaurants and related concepts. The role will oversee ground-up builds and major remodels from planning through opening, with responsibilities tied to delivering quality work on schedule and within budget.
Key responsibilities include providing hands-on leadership across the project lifecycle, collaborating with architects, engineers, kitchen designers, general contractors, vendors, and internal stakeholders, and applying technical expertise to manage complex restaurant environments. The director will review and validate architectural and MEP plans, identify and address issues before mobilization, participate in site selection and lease negotiations, implement permitting strategy with authorities having jurisdiction, and partner with internal construction and operations teams to execute facility improvement projects effectively.
Minimum requirements include progressive, hands-on construction leadership experience (with significant restaurant or hospitality project exposure) spanning development, lease negotiations, and site selection, along with strong background in restaurant, retail, or hospitality construction. The director is expected to have deep knowledge of MEP systems, commercial kitchens, life safety, and health codes, demonstrate success operating in a lean organization, and exhibit clear, confident communication while making decisions and holding others accountable across trades, operators, and executive leadership.
