The client seeks a Director of Communications to join its Leadership Team and serve as the organization’s first full-time staff communications hire. The role will help advance The client’s strategic work during its spend-down period by shaping and evolving the communications function, strengthening The client’s narrative approach, and using communications to leverage partners’ impact during and beyond The client’s sunset. It will also support internal communications, including effective team reporting and board engagement.
The Director of Communications will be responsible for identifying and implementing strategic communications activities that reflect The client’s legacy and contribute to change across reproductive and birth justice, early childhood, infant mental health, and Jewish Values ecosystems through an integrated strategy. The director will consider how The client’s legacy may influence the broader philanthropic sector, and will be motivated to pursue innovative, experimental approaches while translating ideas into practical plans. The role will also help communicate The client’s partner engagement and legacy priorities as it enters final phases of spending down assets.
Qualified candidates will bring exceptional narrative design and storytelling experience, along with strong organization and attention to detail. The client is looking for candidates who can contribute to an equitable, inclusive, and diverse culture, supported by a commitment to racial, gender, and economic equity. The director will be expected to align communications efforts with The client’s mission and values, and to bring lived experience and dedication to equity to support both internal and external communications goals.
