Description

the client is seeking a Director of Administration to provide senior strategic and operational partnership to the Commissioner for intercollegiate athletics governance and executive operations at the conference level. In this role, you will support alignment, execution, and communication across the conference office, serving as a trusted advisor and representative in high-level settings.

Key responsibilities include acting as a proxy and liaison for the Commissioner with boards, athletics directors, and other stakeholders; leading the annual business planning process and overseeing special projects outside standard departmental operations; managing the Commissioner's critical information needs by preparing tailored talking points and visuals for senior meetings; and planning and executing the full cycle of in-person and virtual board, athletics director, and committee meetings to ensure content aligns with conference goals. You will also coordinate senior staff follow-up by tracking execution of action items from leadership and governance meetings to maintain organizational momentum.

The role includes oversight of the conference sportsmanship policy, including managing inquiries, decisions, and penalty processes, as well as leading internal operational improvements such as developing a centralized digital hub (e.g., portals and calendars) for institutional data and office policies. The ideal candidate will have 5+ years of progressive experience in Division I NCAA athletics administration, conference office operations, or professional sports management, with broad campus experience across administrative functions, communications, competitions, and marketing. You should have a proven track record supporting senior leadership as an effective proxy, strong stakeholder management experience across diverse groups, and the ability to lead large cross-functional initiatives. Familiarity with NCAA governance structures and legislative and compliance standards for FBS-level institutions is expected. A bachelor’s degree is required, and a master’s or advanced degree in sports management or business is highly preferred.
