Description

The client is seeking a Director of Acute Care Services to manage and coordinate the planning, development, implementation, evaluation, and supervision of the nursing regimen and related activities that support quality patient care. This role provides clinical and administrative leadership for Medical/Surgical and Intensive Care Units, as well as Respiratory Therapy, maintaining standards for professional nursing practice while directing and collaborating with clinical leads, nursing staff, ancillary staff, physicians, and other personnel.

Key responsibilities include continuously assessing the quality and delivery of care through observation and communication with staff, patients, families, and physicians, and ensuring patient-centered care is delivered in a safe, cost-effective, evidence-based manner. The Director ensures appropriate staffing assignments based on qualifications, experience, and patient needs; communicates and interprets policy and procedural changes; serves as a liaison with other departments to support a seamless continuum of care; confers with the healthcare team to plan total patient care; and performs patient rounds independently or with other providers.

The Director also supports recruitment, hiring recommendations, orientation, and ongoing learning by overseeing new staff orientation and ensuring required documentation is complete. Additional duties involve promoting a culture of learning and goal achievement, maintaining practice aligned with established mission and nursing policies, setting unit standards and objectives for 24/7 nursing care, and coordinating multidisciplinary collaboration through committee meetings. The role further includes overseeing patient information analysis to guide age-appropriate plans and interventions, coordinating continuity of care including post-discharge needs, promoting patient and family education and rehabilitation, supporting staff continuing education and competency, conducting regular staff meetings, and demonstrating ongoing professional growth through required in-services and continuing education.
