Description

The client is seeking a Director of Accounting and Reporting to provide high-visibility leadership in external financial reporting and technical accounting. This role supports the group in preparing and filing external financial reporting documents, including SEC filings, and ensuring alignment with US GAAP technical accounting guidance. It is expected that the selected individual will act as a successor to the Chief Accounting Officer.

The role will lead quarterly, annual, and current report preparation and review, coordinate disclosure inputs with relevant stakeholders and a disclosure committee, and manage drafts through comment collection and finalization. Responsibilities also include overseeing monthly accounting close activities, financial consolidation and reporting, and SOX compliance and internal controls. The position will support general ledger, consolidation, and broader “record to report” activities, while advising executive leadership on technical accounting matters.

Additional duties include leading or supporting audit coordination with external auditors, driving the implementation of new global accounting reporting standards, and monitoring emerging accounting and reporting rules from relevant governing bodies. The role will be expected to oversee documentation, research, and implementation of technical accounting impacts, collaborate on equity-based transaction data integrity with human resources and legal functions, and support defined benefit pension accounting in coordination with external actuaries. Required qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in accounting and CPA certification, with 10+ years of progressive accounting experience; prior SEC reporting experience in a manufacturing environment and experience with multinational stakeholders are highly preferred, along with strong technical accounting research skills and comprehensive GAAP and SOX understanding.
