The client seeks a dynamic sales leader for the Director, Library Channel role to grow a global portfolio of life-enhancing publishing content for library clients worldwide. This position leads a sales and marketing team supporting the academic research library market and is responsible for day-to-day relationships with distribution partners to expand reach, improve customer experience, and drive sustainable growth. The Director will oversee achievement of annual sales and revenue goals for the client’s database program, build a team culture aligned with the client’s mission and core competencies, and advance global brands focused on quality and impact.
Key responsibilities include developing and executing a cohesive global library channel strategy that unifies sales and marketing to deliver renewal, expansion, and new business revenue goals. The role sets revenue targets, KPIs, and territory plans, and oversees forecasting, pipeline management, and performance reporting. It also strengthens relationships with consortia, academic libraries, institutional purchasers, and key vendors/partners, while directing and coaching a global team responsible for renewals, account growth, and acquiring new institutional customers across the client’s product portfolio. The Director will lead multi-channel campaign creation to generate inbound leads and support renewal and awareness efforts, ensure marketing strategies are data-driven and aligned with sales priorities, and collaborate with product, content, and technology teams so customer insights and market feedback inform product development and roadmap decisions.
The Director will partner with customer engagement and support teams to deliver an exceptional post-sale experience and support strong renewal outcomes, and will travel to meet key constituents and attend relevant domestic and international conferences as needed (up to 10%). Required qualifications include a bachelor’s degree (or equivalent experience), at least 7 years of experience in scholarly publishing, and at least 5 years of experience leading sales, marketing, and related support staff. Experience working in a non-profit association or society is preferred. The role also requires advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office and experience using Salesforce or related CRM tools.
