Description

The client Director, Global Tax Accounting is a highly visible leadership role overseeing global tax accounting and financial reporting while driving technology, automation, and process improvements across a complex international organization. Reporting to the Vice President of Tax, the role serves as the organization’s lead expert on ASC 740 and global income tax reporting, with a focus on evolving the tax function from a traditional reporting model toward a more technology-enabled, strategic business partner. This position suits a seasoned tax professional who enjoys leading large-scale transformation, collaborating with executive leadership, and building scalable, best-in-class tax accounting processes.

Key responsibilities include leading global tax accounting and financial reporting under ASC 740, managing quarterly and annual worldwide income tax provisions, and overseeing effective tax rate (ETR) calculations, deferred taxes, tax reserves, and uncertain tax positions (FIN 48). The director will ensure accurate tax disclosures in SEC filings (including Forms 10-K and 10-Q), oversee current and deferred tax reporting across domestic and international legal entities, and address valuation allowances, foreign operations, business combinations, and complex multinational structures. The role also involves monitoring and evaluating emerging domestic and international tax developments, assessing financial reporting implications of evolving regulations (including OECD Pillar Two, CAMT, GILTI and related provisions, foreign tax credit regimes, and global tax reform initiatives), and partnering on new accounting standards and tax implications of accounting method changes.

The director will lead forecasting of effective tax rates and cash taxes, partner with FP&A to enhance forecasting models and visibility into tax drivers by legal entity and jurisdiction, and support strategic planning through forward-looking tax analysis and scenario modeling. Additional responsibilities include modernizing the tax accounting function through automation, process redesign, and technology implementation; improving data quality, controls, and reporting efficiency; and supporting a transition toward a more insourced operating model. The role includes maintaining and enhancing tax-related SOX 404 controls, governance, and documentation, partnering with internal and external auditors on control testing and compliance reviews, and providing day-to-day technical leadership, mentorship, and team development to foster continuous improvement. Required qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in Accounting, a CPA designation, and 15+ years of progressive tax experience with significant ASC 740 expertise, along with deep knowledge of U.S. GAAP tax accounting and SEC reporting requirements and demonstrated leadership in large multinational public company and/or Big 4 public accounting environments.
