Description

Director, Global Tax Accounting will oversee global tax accounting and financial reporting for a large multinational organization undergoing modernization within its global tax function. Reporting to the Vice President of Tax, this highly visible leadership role will serve as the organization’s lead expert on ASC 740 and global income tax reporting, combining deep technical tax accounting expertise with a change-management mindset to evolve the tax function from traditional reporting toward a more technology-enabled, strategic model. The role involves collaborating with executive leadership, driving scalable process improvements, and supporting executive-level communication of key tax accounting outcomes and risks.

Key responsibilities include leading global tax accounting and financial reporting under ASC 740, managing quarterly and annual worldwide income tax provisions, and overseeing effective tax rate calculations, deferred taxes, tax reserves, and uncertain tax positions (FIN 48). The Director will ensure accurate tax disclosures in SEC filings and oversee current and deferred tax reporting across domestic and international legal entities, including valuation allowances, foreign operations, business combinations, and complex multinational structures. This role also requires monitoring and evaluating emerging domestic and international tax developments, assessing financial reporting implications of evolving regulations, partnering on new accounting standards and tax implications of accounting method changes, and presenting tax accounting results, risks, and strategic considerations to senior leadership and external auditors.

Additional responsibilities span forecasting of effective tax rates and cash taxes, partnering with FP&A to enhance visibility into tax drivers by legal entity and jurisdiction, and supporting strategic planning through forward-looking tax analysis and scenario modeling. The Director will drive process transformation through automation, process redesign, and technology implementation to reduce manual effort, improve data quality and controls, and enhance reporting efficiency, including supporting a transition from outsourced to a more insourced operating model. The role also includes maintaining tax-related SOX controls and documentation, partnering on control testing and compliance reviews, and providing day-to-day operational leadership, technical mentorship, and team development to foster continuous improvement and readiness for regulatory and business change.
