In this key leadership role, the client is seeking a Director Global Strategic Procurement to take overall responsibility for global strategic purchasing of electronic components and to advance resilient supplier structures and future-ready procurement strategies. The position focuses on shaping global sourcing strategy with significant business impact and includes steering a substantial international purchasing volume in the multi-million range. The role involves developing forward-looking spend categories and supplier strategies and implementing them in line with the global procurement approach.
Responsibilities include the targeted development of the international supplier portfolio, qualifying new partners, optimizing existing supplier structures, and driving the build-out of resilient dual-source concepts. The Director Global Strategic Procurement will conduct complex regional and global negotiations with strategically relevant suppliers, establishing and maintaining robust long-term partnerships. In addition, the role supports the continuous improvement of the global procurement organization by promoting professionalism, transparency, and stronger international collaboration.
The ideal candidate is expected to hold a degree in engineering, ideally in electrical engineering or mechanical engineering, and to bring multi-year, well-grounded experience in strategic purchasing of electronic components, potentially complemented by plastic components, within industrial production environments with complex global supply chains. Experience in global supplier management and in challenging negotiations with strategic suppliers is required, along with proven leadership experience in a matrix organization, both in functional and people leadership responsibilities. Strong affinity for digitalization, automation, and innovative solutions in procurement and supply chain, as well as fluent German and English proficiency, are also expected.
