The Director of Fire Services will report to the Chief Administrative Officer and be responsible for overseeing all fire services within the Municipality. This includes collaborating with protective services such as GSAR and RCMP, establishing strategic leadership within the fire departments, and providing support for activities such as policy development, budgeting, training coordination, and insurance. The Director will also act as the central liaison between the fire departments and elected officials, ensuring regular communication with Council and establishing a Fire Services Advisory Committee to provide strategic advice.In addition, the Director will ensure compliance with new provincial fire services legislation, lead long-term planning and procurement for apparatus and equipment, and develop consistent operating procedures across all municipal fire departments. This includes establishing standardized guidelines, training expectations, procurement practices, and safety protocols to ensure consistency, interoperability, and a common level of service throughout the municipality. The Director will work collaboratively with stakeholders to improve coordinated response efforts, enhance firefighter and public safety, and support effective governance and accountability, while also providing advisory services and overseeing emergency preparation in coordination with REMO and the Emergency Management Coordinator.
