Description

The client is seeking applications for the Director, Facilities & Real Estate, a senior leadership role responsible for strategic oversight of facilities operations and the real estate portfolio. The Director will ensure safe, compliant, and efficient learning and working environments by overseeing campus facilities planning, operational excellence, safety and security programs, and long-term space planning, while partnering with cross-functional leaders to enhance the student and employee experience and support institutional growth. The role reports to the Chief Financial Officer.

Key responsibilities include managing real estate projects end to end, including contracts, project resources, and meeting coordination, and working closely with external stakeholders such as property management, vendors, and contractors. The Director will oversee owned and leased properties, including lease negotiations, renewals, and compliance with relevant municipal and provincial regulations. The Director will guide campus operations day to day to support reliable classroom, office, and general space operations, and will create and monitor facility operating budgets and annual capex budgets. The role will partner with procurement to review facility contractor engagements and help ensure best-practice procurement approaches, including use of national arrangements where appropriate. Finally, the Director will conduct routine inspections to identify potential issues and coordinate with operational teams to ensure ongoing maintenance of building systems, with a focus on continuous improvement of processes, programs, and services that drive efficiencies and improve the overall experience.
