Description

The client is seeking a highly experienced Director-level eFX Engineering Lead to drive the development of next-generation, low-latency electronic FX trading technology. This hands-on leadership position requires close collaboration with global technology teams, as well as Traders and Sales in the London Front Office. The successful candidate will be responsible for engineering and delivering high-performance eFX systems, ensuring their reliability, scalability, and low-latency execution across various trading workflows. They will also play a crucial role in influencing technical strategy, contributing to architectural decisions, and acting as a key partner to the Front Office FX desk.

The role involves leading the design and construction of low-latency, high-performance eFX trading components such as real-time pricing, risk management, price distribution, algo execution, and electronic trading workflows. The Director will work directly with Traders and Sales to gather and interpret requirements and will take on an active engineering role while guiding and mentoring other developers. Contributions to the evaluation and adoption of new technologies, delivery using agile methodologies, and adherence to documentation, testing, and change control standards are also expected. Additionally, the role includes providing production support, including incident and problem management as necessary.

Candidates must have significant Front Office development experience in FX/eFX and strong programming skills in C++, Java, or Rust, while experience in C# or Python is considered but less aligned with the core stack. A deep understanding of distributed, real-time trading systems, multi-threaded high-performance development, market data, liquidity aggregation, order entry gateway development, and API development and connectivity to trading platforms is required. A strong command of SQL/NoSQL databases, scripting, CI/CD, and automated testing is essential. The ideal candidate will have demonstrated ability to collaborate with traders, sales teams, and senior stakeholders, along with excellent communication, problem-solving, and organizational skills.
