Director Corporate Communications will own and lead corporate communications for a growing, publicly traded biopharmaceutical company, partnering closely with executive leadership on high-visibility initiatives. The role shapes corporate storytelling and executive communications, strengthening media relations, employee engagement, and digital strategy while translating complex scientific and clinical information into clear, compelling messaging for multiple stakeholder groups.
Key responsibilities include developing and executing integrated corporate communications strategies aligned to company priorities, pipeline milestones, and brand positioning. The role will manage media relations by drafting press releases, building relationships with healthcare and industry media, and supporting proactive outreach; design and implement internal communications initiatives to promote culture, alignment, and change management; and support crisis and issues management by preparing communication strategies and materials for sensitive situations. The Director will also collaborate cross-functionally with Legal, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, HR, Commercial, and Executive teams to ensure compliant and aligned messaging, and partner with executive leadership to develop presentations, speeches, and leadership messaging. Additionally, the role will monitor media coverage and industry trends to identify opportunities and mitigate reputational risks, and support communications related to clinical milestones, regulatory updates, corporate announcements, and scientific presentations.
Candidates are expected to have a bachelor’s degree in Communications, Public Relations, Journalism, Marketing, Life Sciences, or a related field, with a master’s degree preferred. The position typically requires 5–8+ years of corporate communications experience in biotech, pharmaceuticals, healthcare, or related areas, including proven ability to support corporate reputation, executive communications, media relations, and internal initiatives. Strong skills in translating complex scientific and clinical data into accessible messaging, along with a solid understanding of communications in a regulated healthcare or pharmaceutical environment, are essential. The role requires exceptional written, verbal, and presentation abilities and experience collaborating with cross-functional teams such as Legal, Regulatory, Medical Affairs, and leadership, as well as proficiency with Microsoft Office and media monitoring and digital communication tools. Domestic travel up to 10% may be required for meetings, conferences, and events.
