The client is seeking a Director, Content Licensing based in Palmetto, Florida. This strategic and operational role will drive the growth and success of the organization’s content licensing strategy, with a focus on expanding the reach, visibility, and licensable value of SMX short-form content across multiple media channels worldwide. The role supports the newly launched content licensing unit and oversees day-to-day management of footage, photos, and short-form content requests.
Key responsibilities include providing strategic leadership for licensing and rights management, building and maintaining relationships with licensees and content users, and serving as the primary point of contact for footage and photo licensing needs. The Director will lead negotiation of license agreements and renewals, perform due diligence to assess feasibility and potential risks related to usage parameters, and ensure compliance through internal reporting of content usage. This position will collaborate closely with cross-functional teams including Operations, Global Partnerships, Public Relations, Digital Marketing, and Legal, and will supervise the Media Manager, Content Licensing.
Qualifications include a college degree and experience typically spanning 5+ years in media licensing, rights management, or content acquisition, preferably in sports media or sports entertainment, along with experience in a fast-paced media environment. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of IP and copyright law and contract negotiation, along with the ability to manage high request volumes with attention to detail. Strong relationship management, negotiation, communication, and organizational skills are essential, and the role requires completion of mandated safety programs and the ability to work under pressure while prioritizing effectively.
