Description

The Director, Academic Initiatives at UBC Vancouver reports to the Senior Advisor and Associate Vice-President Indigenous Affairs and is responsible for advancing the development and implementation of the 2020 Indigenous Strategic Plan. This role involves working closely with Faculties and support units to support the development and implementation of policies, academic programs, research, and other initiatives that address the needs and aspirations of Indigenous learners. The Director will also work to advance the priorities of Indigenous education within the university.Additionally, the Director, Academic Initiatives will oversee the administration of the FNHL, including its coordinating and strategic planning functions. This role requires collaboration with the Office of Indigenous Strategic Initiatives, the Indian Residential School History and Dialogue Centre, and the Xwi7xwa Library. The Director will play a key role in ensuring that initiatives and programs align with the goals of the Indigenous Strategic Plan and contribute to the overall advancement of Indigenous education at UBC Vancouver.
