Description

The director of the School of Criminology and Criminal Justice is responsible for providing vision, strategic direction, and operational oversight to foster excellence in teaching, research, and service. This role involves leading faculty and staff, overseeing curriculum development, ensuring compliance with institutional policies, and making decisions related to budgeting, resource allocation, and personnel. Additionally, the director represents the school within the college, university, and community, advocates for its needs, and builds partnerships to advance its mission and goals. The director also serves as a key member of the dean's executive team to advance the goals of the College of Public Affairs and Community Service, overseeing undergraduate and graduate degree programs as well as two research units.The School of Criminology and Criminal Justice is one of five academic units within the College of Public Affairs and Community Service at the University of Nebraska system. The director oversees undergraduate programs on both the Omaha and Lincoln campuses, as well as nationally ranked graduate degrees and certificates on the Omaha campus. The director also supervises two research units, the Nebraska Center for Justice Research and the Juvenile Justice Institute. The University of Nebraska at Omaha, where the School is located, is in the heart of Nebraska's largest metropolitan area with over 1,000,000 residents, making it a key player in the community and the university system.
