Description

the client is seeking a Director of Public & Private Cloud Engineering to lead an enterprise cloud platform organization focused on connecting private and public cloud into a unified environment. This is a strategic leadership role with a strong delivery emphasis, guiding a global engineering team across cloud platform engineering, site reliability engineering (SRE), DevOps, and infrastructure functions.

Reporting into senior technology leadership, the director will oversee an organization of approximately 50–100 engineers and leaders across the US and India. The role will drive the evolution of a connected cloud platform by aligning engineering functions, addressing fragmentation across teams and platforms, and delivering platform initiatives across both private and public cloud environments.

Key responsibilities include leading global cloud engineering across platform engineering, SRE, DevOps, and infrastructure; connecting siloed infrastructure and platform functions into a unified cloud platform; partnering with senior technical leadership and architecture teams; and overseeing Kubernetes, compute, storage, networking, GPU infrastructure, and cloud services. The director will improve reliability, scalability, automation, and operational efficiency; build trust and autonomy while strengthening an engineering culture across distributed teams; and drive modern infrastructure practices using open source tooling and infrastructure-as-code approaches. Required qualifications include 12+ years across cloud, infrastructure, and platform engineering (or private cloud environments), experience leading managers and senior engineering leaders, strong knowledge of both private and public cloud, deep expertise across AWS with additional public cloud exposure preferred, infrastructure automation and IaC experience using common tools such as Terraform, Ansible, and Python (or similar), and strong understanding of networking, security, distributed systems, and infrastructure operations. Preferred experience includes Kubernetes or OpenShift platform leadership, exposure to large enterprise engineering-led organizations, experience with AI/ML, GPU, or high-performance compute environments, and strong open source tooling experience.
