Description

the client’s mission is to support families affected by childhood cancer through peer support, respite, mentoring, and recreational programs. Since its founding, the client has partnered with pediatric oncology treatment centers to provide ongoing support through a range of programs, including services for oncology patients, siblings, families, bereavement, and teens. The client emphasizes community-based healing, free access for participating families, and serving children and families across Northern California and Northern Nevada regardless of physical condition, geographic location, ethnicity, or economic background.

the client is seeking to hire a Director, Major Gifts and Individual Giving to help advance its fundraising goals and support the long-term sustainability and growth of its programs. This inaugural, hands-on leadership role will help diversify revenue streams and expand and deepen an existing donor base. Reporting to the Executive Director, the Director will partner with the leadership team and Board of Directors to strengthen and expand fundraising capacity, including the development of a strategic major gifts program.

the Director will build and lead a major gifts and individual giving function with an emphasis on donor engagement, measurable growth, and strong relationship management. The role typically requires a deep commitment to the mission, exceptional interpersonal and communication skills, and demonstrated success in building and deepening donor relationships and increasing major donor support. the Director should also have strong data analysis and information management skills to leverage the client’s donor/community database, a results-oriented mindset for balancing long- and short-term priorities while managing multiple projects, and a collaborative, flexible approach that includes willingness to travel and occasionally work evenings and weekends. Experience in major and/or principal gift fundraising is expected at a progressive level, with a bachelor’s degree preferred.
