Description

The client, a dynamic institution in Sault Ste. Marie, Ontario, is seeking a Director of Human Resources to develop and implement best practices and people strategies that align with the College's goals and strategic business plans. Reporting to the Vice President Finance and Corporate Services, the Director will ensure compliance with all federal and provincial employment legislation, interpret and apply Collective Agreements, and provide advice to all levels of management on employment matters. The Director will also be responsible for building sound labour relations practices and relationships with internal and external stakeholders.

Key responsibilities for the Director of Human Resources include anticipating and addressing emerging labour relations issues, interpreting and providing advice on employment matters, managing the grievance process, coordinating discipline and termination processes, and serving as a liaison between the Union and the College. The Director will also provide leadership and direction to the Human Resources, Compensation, and Health Services Centre departments, ensuring effective departmental management, planning, and reporting. Additionally, the Director will be actively involved in various committees and processes related to labour relations and employment stability.

The ideal candidate for this role will have a strong background in human resources management, labour relations, and compliance with employment legislation. They will possess excellent communication and interpersonal skills, the ability to provide sound advice to all levels of management, and experience in building positive labour relations. The Director of Human Resources will play a crucial role in supporting the College's commitment to innovation, Indigenous education, and community engagement, contributing to a collaborative and supportive environment for both learners and employees.
