Description

We are seeking a Director of Critical Facilities Operations to lead mission-critical infrastructure across multiple data center sites or a large campus environment. This role drives operational excellence, uptime performance, and long-term reliability strategy, and leads teams of managers, engineers, and third-party partners to ensure consistent service delivery and robust operational governance.

Key responsibilities include leading critical facilities operations across a campus or multi-site portfolio and owning delivery of high uptime and SLA performance across all environments. The director will oversee layered leadership teams, develop preventative and predictive maintenance strategies, and establish incident management and root-cause analysis programs with strong enterprise-level rigor. The role also includes developing and enforcing operational standards, safety programs, and compliance frameworks, managing relationships with key vendors and OEM/service providers, partnering with engineering and capacity planning teams on expansions and retrofits, and leading budgeting, forecasting, and cost optimization initiatives for facilities operations.

The role requires extensive experience in critical facilities, data center, or mission-critical infrastructure operations, along with proven leadership in large-scale campus or multi-site environments. The director should have deep expertise in electrical and mechanical systems supporting uptime and reliability, strong experience owning incident response and uptime management, and demonstrated ability to manage managers and cross-functional leadership teams. Experience with maintenance strategy and maintenance systems is expected, as well as strong knowledge of applicable safety and electrical/regulatory compliance standards; financial acumen for managing operating budgets and vendor contracts is also required. Preferred qualifications include experience in hyperscale, colocation, or enterprise-scale data center environments, relevant professional certifications and operational excellence methodologies, and an engineering- or facilities-related academic background or equivalent experience.
