Description

The client is seeking a Director, Capital Projects responsible for planning, execution, and management of a multi-year capital program. This role provides strategic, operational, and technical leadership for major and minor capital project initiatives across the institution, overseeing the full project lifecycle from early feasibility and budgeting through design, construction, commissioning, and turnover. The Director will ensure projects advance institutional priorities, support academic and research needs, and meet expectations for quality, sustainability, and fiscal stewardship.

The Director serves as a key liaison among Campus Services leadership, faculty and administration, external consultants, and regulatory agencies. Responsibilities include serving as a thought leader in institutional campus capital project delivery across all stages, and ensuring successful delivery of projects assigned to direct reports. This includes planning, estimating, budget control, permitting, construction, scheduling, reporting, and problem solving, as well as managing improvements and renovations across administrative, research, academic, residential, and athletic facilities to support related programs.

Key accountability areas include strategic planning, program management and execution, and performance tracking. The Director will steward components of the multi-year capital plan, counsel leadership on feasibility, cost, risk, and long-term infrastructure needs, and help launch key capital initiatives. The role will develop proposals to support program priorities, assemble annual capital budget submission materials, establish estimating and cost control procedures, coordinate fiscal and procurement administration within area of responsibility, and support governance reporting while keeping relevant capital planning information current. The Director will also anticipate technical issues, manage transitions from planning to assignment of a dedicated project manager, and apply effective project delivery methods to achieve value-focused outcomes.
