the client is seeking an experienced, relationship-driven Development Director to lead frontline fundraising for its Boston and Miami communities. The role involves managing fundraising efforts across both markets, with responsibility for a portfolio spanning individual donors, foundations, federations, and corporate partners, as well as identifying and securing new philanthropic investment. The development function is supported by a centralized national team that provides grant writing, prospect research, database management, and development operations, allowing the director to focus primarily on donor engagement and day-to-day fundraising.
In this full-time, exempt position, the director will serve as the primary development presence in two key communities and will partner closely with local staff and lay leaders. The director will collaborate regularly with senior leadership, executive leadership, and board members, acting as the primary staff partner to the Boston and Miami chairs of the client’s major giving initiative for donors contributing at a higher giving level. The director will also represent the organization in meetings, events, and convenings with donors, foundations, and community partners across both cities.
Key responsibilities include leading local fundraising strategies aligned with national development priorities, owning and achieving annual fundraising goals across both markets, and cultivating, soliciting, and stewarding donors and institutional partners with an emphasis on individual giving growth. The director will identify and develop new funding opportunities within the local philanthropic communities, actively solicit gifts through one-on-one meetings and proposals, and maintain a strong prospect pipeline. Travel is expected approximately once per month, with particular focus on strengthening and stewarding relationships in Miami.
