the client is working to deepen community-based literacy support by leveraging volunteers to provide one-on-one tutoring to students in under-resourced schools. the Development Director will join a fundraising and relationship-building team responsible for supporting the organization’s strategic growth plan and expanding regional impact.
the Development Director will create, lead, and drive the region’s overarching fundraising strategy, operational plans, and revenue activities to meet or exceed fundraising goals. responsibilities include maintaining renewal rates; managing and growing donor relationships; maximizing upgrade opportunities for individual and institutional gifts; identifying strategies to generate prospects that support impact goals through the coming years; and developing innovative approaches to increase both individual and institutional funding, including identifying prospective government funding opportunities.
the Development Director will serve as a senior regional leader and trusted advisor, leading cultivation and stewardship of high-level external relationships, directly managing a Development Manager, and partnering closely with the executive director on board management and new fundraising generation. the role also involves leading regional external relations and brand elevation through communications and public relations, overseeing external communications and persuasive messaging, providing strategic support to the board and relevant committees, and managing the planning and execution of an annual fundraising event, with a major-donor portfolio of individuals, corporate partners, and foundations.
