Description

The client Development & Marketing Director leads the organization’s fundraising and marketing efforts, developing and implementing strategies to cultivate and solicit support from individual donors, foundations, corporate partners, and members. The role is responsible for fundraising planning, donor cultivation, foundation relationships, events, grant proposals, membership growth, and capital campaigns that sustain and expand the organization’s mission. Working closely with the Executive Director, the Director builds and manages donor and institutional relationships while aligning data-driven marketing and engagement efforts to support earned and solicited revenue growth.

The Director develops and implements annual fundraising plans and manages the associated development and marketing budget. They will build and manage a portfolio of major donors and prospects, cultivate and solicit major gifts, planned gifts, and leadership contributions in partnership with the Executive Director and board members, and plan and execute fundraising appeals and membership campaigns. The role also oversees membership engagement and retention, identifies and cultivates foundation and corporate partners, prepares foundation and corporate partnership proposals, and supports government grant proposals by programs, while partnering with the Executive Director to steward key funder relationships.

The Director plans and oversees an annual fundraising event and additional cultivation events, supports third-party fundraising opportunities, and leads capital campaigns and other major initiatives as needed. They provide marketing and communications leadership by aligning messaging with fundraising and member engagement priorities, overseeing digital communications and email marketing, ensuring consistent brand identity, and guiding storytelling and content development. The position manages development operations and data management, including donor database systems, CRM and related tools, fundraising analytics, and reporting; it also supervises a small development and marketing team, coordinates activities across departments, and collaborates with the Board of Directors and its Development Committee to support fundraising and member involvement.
