The client is seeking a senior-level Deputy Head of Compliance & Legal to operate as a generalist, working closely with SMF16/17. The role is responsible for strengthening the firm’s compliance and legal oversight across international banking activities.
Key responsibilities include reviewing and updating compliance policies, assessing the commercial impact of new regulations, and supporting the preparation and delivery of compliance training. The Deputy Head will help develop and maintain AML policies, run the Compliance Monitoring Programme, advise and liaise with internal and external stakeholders, conduct thematic reviews, and review financial promotions to ensure appropriate standards are met.
The role also includes providing legal advice, assisting with litigation matters, and reviewing, supporting, and negotiating legal agreements. The client expects candidates to have typically 5–8 years of compliance experience gained within retail and commercial banking, with the ability to manage regulatory change and partner effectively across relevant functions.
