The client is seeking a Deputy Finance Officer to support strategic leadership in municipal finance. This role will help lead budgeting and financial planning, capital improvement programming, audit coordination, financial reporting, and organizational modernization efforts, with a focus on continuous process improvement and strong cross-department collaboration.
The Deputy Finance Officer will work closely with the Finance Officer and is expected to bring well-rounded experience in governmental accounting, auditing, financial forecasting, and capital planning. Required qualifications include a bachelor’s degree in a business, public administration, finance, accounting, or closely related field, along with professional experience supporting management, including at least two years in public administration or municipal government (or an equivalent combination of education and experience). The position also requires strong knowledge of financial management systems, budgeting processes, and governmental regulations, as well as the ability to communicate effectively with elected officials, staff, and the public.
Preferred qualifications may include experience in utility finance, rate analysis, and cost-of-service; capital improvement planning and asset management; and leading financial modernization initiatives and system implementations. Additional preferred credentials include relevant professional certifications. The client operates under a Council-Manager form of government, and the role is intended to support the organization’s delivery of essential municipal services.
