The client is seeking a Deputy Director to support the execution of organizational priorities related to affordable housing and voucher program initiatives. The role will lead day-to-day planning, implementation, and refinement of housing programs, including pilot initiatives and program enhancements, while applying subject-matter expertise in housing stability and rental assistance to support effective and compliant delivery.
The Deputy Director will provide oversight for Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) initiatives, project-based vouchers, and related rental assistance programs. Responsibilities include monitoring program performance, compliance, and quality assurance; recommending and implementing improvements; supporting strategies to improve voucher utilization, landlord participation, and participant experience; and using data and reporting to inform decision-making and continuous improvement.
In addition, the Deputy Director will collaborate with and maintain effective working relationships with public housing authorities, government agencies, nonprofit partners, developers, landlords, and community stakeholders, and represent the organization in local and regional housing meetings and partner forums. The role supervises and supports program staff, assists with onboarding, development, workload management, and cross-team coordination, and supports budgeting, grant, contract, and resource tracking to ensure day-to-day operations align with the organization’s mission, values, and strategic direction. Requirements include a bachelor’s degree, 3+ years of supervisory or team-lead experience, 3+ years administering public or assisted housing programs, familiarity with HCV programs and HUD-regulated environments, and working knowledge of affordable housing or community development program operations; experience with LIHTC structures, budget management, grant-funded programs, contracting, and cross-sector collaborative housing initiatives is expected. The role also requires strong communication and relationship-building skills, support for operational change, ability to obtain required certifications, and a commitment to equity and resident-centered practice.
