Description

The client is seeking a Deputy Director to support the execution of organizational priorities related to affordable housing and voucher program initiatives. The role provides leadership for day-to-day planning, implementation, and refinement of housing programs, including pilot initiatives and program enhancements. The Deputy Director will help senior leadership assess emerging opportunities and provide operational insight to inform long-term housing strategy, applying subject-matter expertise in housing stability and rental assistance to support effective and compliant program delivery.

The Deputy Director will provide oversight for Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) initiatives, project-based vouchers, and related rental assistance programs. Responsibilities include monitoring program performance, compliance, and quality assurance, recommending and implementing improvements as needed, and supporting strategies to improve voucher utilization, landlord participation, and participant experience. The role will promote resident-centered program design that reflects community needs and supports long-term housing stability, using data and reporting to drive decision-making and continuous improvement.

The Deputy Director will maintain working relationships with public housing authorities, government agencies, nonprofit partners, developers, landlords, and community stakeholders, and represent the client in local and regional housing meetings, coalitions, and partner forums. The position also supports cross-sector collaborations to strengthen housing systems and improve program outcomes, and supervises and supports program staff through onboarding, development, workload management, and cross-team coordination. Qualifications include a bachelor’s degree, supervisory or team-lead experience, experience administering public or assisted housing programs, working knowledge of HCV programs and HUD-regulated environments, familiarity with Low-Income Housing Tax Credit (LIHTC) structures, and strong communication and relationship-building skills, along with a commitment to equity and resident-centered practice.
