Description

the client is seeking an experienced Deputy Chief Information Officer (Deputy CIO) to support the Chief Information Officer (CIO), serve as second-in-command, and lead strategic, university-wide technology initiatives. The role provides executive leadership and oversight for enterprise resource planning (ERP) systems and core administrative platforms, helping ensure technology investments are strategically aligned, operationally compliant, and effectively support the organization’s mission. The Deputy CIO reports directly to the CIO and is responsible for establishing and enforcing an organization-wide framework for IT policy, standards, and governance.

Key responsibilities include serving as the principal leader for IT governance by developing, maintaining, and championing a framework for technology decision-making, prioritization, and resource allocation. The Deputy CIO develops, communicates, and enforces IT policies and standards to support security, compliance, interoperability, and operational efficiency, and chairs or co-chairs major governance committees to enable transparent decision-making and stakeholder buy-in. The role also acts as the CIO’s delegate in internal and external forums, representing the client’s IT strategic vision, policies, and operational status.

Additional responsibilities include aligning governance decisions with resource capacity and technology execution, assisting with long-term IT strategic planning, and providing leadership, mentorship, and development to unit directors and managers.
