The role supports strategic decision-making by overseeing day-to-day financial operations and ensuring strong financial management, governance, and reporting practices.
Key responsibilities include leading annual budgeting, forecasting, and financial planning processes in support of organizational priorities and capital investment plans; preparing financial analysis, business cases, and investment models to support executive and Board decisions; and overseeing treasury operations, liquidity management, financing arrangements, and banking relationships. Additional duties include preparing materials for executive leadership and governance bodies and partnering with leaders across the organization on budgeting, resource allocation, and operational decision-making.
The Deputy CFO is expected to hold a bachelor’s degree in Finance, Accounting, Business Administration, or a related field and to have a CPA designation. The role typically requires 10+ years of progressive finance leadership experience, including senior-level responsibility for financial planning, reporting, treasury, and governance, along with experience supporting Boards of Directors and Audit Committees. Strong IFRS, internal controls, financial planning, and treasury management expertise is required, and the position involves leading, mentoring, and developing a high-performing finance team. Experience in infrastructure, transportation, marine, logistics, public sector, or other capital-intensive environments may be advantageous, and the ability to obtain and maintain a Transport Canada Security Clearance is expected.
