The client is seeking a visionary academic leader to serve as Chair of a pediatric dentistry department, guiding the future of education, research, and patient care for children from infancy through adolescence. This role leads a long-established department responsible for comprehensive predoctoral education, advanced specialty training, research, and community outreach serving thousands of children annually, with an emphasis on health promotion and disease prevention to support healthy dental development.
The Chair will provide strategic and executive leadership by developing and implementing a strategic transformation plan, championing interdisciplinary collaboration, integrating evidence-based practice and emerging technologies, and setting performance metrics to measure success. The role also includes educational leadership through oversight of pediatric dentistry curriculum for a large student cohort and administration of an advanced residency program, along with the integration of digital tools into both education and patient care. The Chair will support faculty development and mentorship across academic ranks.
The Chair will oversee research and scholarly activity by maintaining research productivity, advancing programs addressing oral health disparities and preventive strategies, and promoting translational and interdisciplinary collaboration. Clinical and community impact responsibilities include oversight of pediatric dental clinics and mobile outreach serving underserved populations, as well as leadership of prevention initiatives and school-based programs to ensure high-quality, patient-centered care. The position requires an experienced academic leader with a DDS or DMD from an accredited institution (with eligibility for licensure in New York), and candidates are preferred to have an advanced degree and board certification or specialty recognition; they should demonstrate progressive academic leadership, success in strategic planning and technology integration, a strong record in securing external funding and building partnerships, and exceptional communication and change-management skills.
