Description

The client is seeking a Department Chair of Health Sciences to provide leadership and direction for implementing the department’s vision, mission, strategic plan, and core values in coordination with program directors, faculty, and staff. This role reports directly to the dean and serves as a member of the college’s administrative team, supporting effective management of a unit that represents a substantial portion of student credit hour delivery within the college. The chair will help advance departmental priorities across undergraduate and graduate offerings in health sciences, health administration, clinical laboratory sciences, public health, and related graduate programs, including a physician assistant program.

The Department Chair will join during a period of academic growth planning, with an emphasis on interprofessional education and the use of emerging technology to strengthen teaching and learning. The ideal candidate will be committed to fostering a welcoming, collaborative environment and will demonstrate forward-thinking strategic thinking, with the ability to navigate complex issues proactively. This individual is expected to cultivate an atmosphere that encourages and sustains innovation within the department while promoting collaboration across the broader academic community.

Faculty in the college are expected to excel in teaching, remain responsive to evolving professional needs, and support innovative instruction delivery, including effective use of technology and distance learning. The role also emphasizes producing peer-reviewed scholarship and providing service to the college, university, and community, with teaching assignments that may be based on the main campus or at off-campus sites within the region.
