The Dean of the School of Law reports directly to the Provost and Vice President for Academic Affairs and serves as the chief executive officer of the school. Responsibilities include providing leadership, aligning the school with broader academic goals, and overseeing academic and administrative planning, budgeting, and policy implementation. The Dean also plays a key role in faculty recruitment, development, and evaluation, as well as student relations and program development.In addition to internal responsibilities, the Dean is expected to cultivate relationships with key stakeholders such as alumni, supporters, and members of North Dakota's legal community. Fundraising and external relations are also important aspects of the role. Overall, the Dean is responsible for ensuring the effective administration of the School of Law and facilitating an environment that supports strategic goals and aligns with the university's academic identity and planning.
