Sam Houston State University (SHSU) is seeking a collaborative and strategic academic leader to serve as the Dean of The Graduate & Professional School. The new dean will support faculty and academic deans in online and distance education graduate programs, international student opportunities, and the creation of graduate programs that align with the university's R2 status and mission. Responsibilities include providing administrative leadership for academic program reviews, overseeing graduate programs and initiatives, and administering selected graduate scholarship programs. The dean will also participate in academic policy development, work with faculty and department chairs to develop plans for graduate education, and collaborate with local and regional partners to advance the university's teaching and research mission.The Dean of The Graduate & Professional School at SHSU will serve as the senior academic and administrative officer for graduate programs, maintain a presence in professional associations for graduate studies, and exercise fiscal responsibility for The Graduate & Professional School. The dean will communicate activities with reporting agencies, provide strategic leadership, and develop strategies to bring the campus together with local and regional partners. Additionally, the dean will work with faculty, department chairs, and deans to develop short and long-range plans for graduate education, and perform other related duties as assigned.
