The client seeks nominations and applications for the role of Dean of the College of Agriculture and Applied Sciences (CAAS). As chief academic officer for the college, the dean will provide outstanding leadership and a dynamic vision for academic and strategic advancement. The dean will report directly to the Provost and Executive Vice President.
CAAS comprises eight academic departments and, through its applied science mission, offers degrees and certificates across a broad range of disciplines including animal, dairy, and veterinary sciences; applied economics; applied sciences, technology, and education; aviation technology; landscape architecture and environmental planning; nutrition, dietetics, and food sciences; plants, soils, and climate; and technology, design, and technical education. The college is supported by nearly 200 faculty delivering educational opportunities across more than 100 degree and certificate programs, with an emphasis on innovative experiential learning and community engagement.
The ideal candidate will demonstrate proven, excellent leadership, articulate a broad and comprehensive vision grounded in the college’s strengths and values, and embrace the land-grant mission with a focus on educational access, community partnerships, and outreach. The dean is expected to value the diversity of scholarly disciplines within the college, promote innovative growth in research and teaching, and enhance infrastructure to support and expand the college’s external research funding base.
