the client seeks an accomplished, ambitious leader to serve as Dean of an engineering college within a public research university. This role will build on a period of significant success and growth, with the college expanding facilities and faculty to enhance diversity, research productivity, and collaboration. The Dean is expected to drive excellence across research, teaching, and outreach, and to strengthen the college’s story and impact at national and global levels.
Reporting to the Provost and Executive Vice President for Academic Affairs, the Dean serves as the chief academic officer for the college, responsible for its education, research, service, and outreach agenda. The role includes leading philanthropic efforts and developing strategic internal and external relationships to support the college’s mission. The Dean will help advance research agendas across the university, improve the college’s reputation using multiple performance metrics (including federal funding and innovation outcomes), and develop a strategic vision to guide the college over the next decade.
The Dean will also lead a vigorous fundraising program supporting the next campaign and partner in faculty and academic development initiatives. The ideal candidate will be an experienced academic administrator and collaborative leader who values integration and variation in a successful academic enterprise. This position is focused on strengthening both institutional outcomes and the college’s long-term trajectory through effective leadership, partnership, and sustained pursuit of excellence.
