Description

the client seeks an entrepreneurial, innovative, and service-oriented leader to serve as Dean of its School of Law. Reporting to the Provost and Vice Chancellor for Academic Affairs, the Dean is the chief academic and administrative officer and the primary liaison with the broader university. The School of Law supports instructional, research, and public service goals and serves a diverse student body, including many students committed to serving underserved communities.

The Dean is responsible for managing budget and finance; leading and implementing instructional programs and educational and professional objectives; partnering with faculty, staff, and students to develop high-quality teaching, scholarly research, and public service programs; and maintaining and improving the Law Library and Law School technology. The role also includes planning, implementing, and administering admissions policies and procedures, as well as coordinating internal and external communications.

The client is looking for a leader with strong communication, interpersonal, and administrative leadership skills, including experience achieving success in a law school setting and building consensus and cohesion. Required qualifications include an earned JD (or equivalent) from an ABA-accredited institution law school (or equivalent), a distinguished record of professional achievement and leadership, and knowledge of legal education and pedagogy. Expected priorities include developing the leadership team, strengthening internal cohesion, creating a dynamic marketing program, supporting the law school’s mission and standing, designing fundraising programs, strengthening partnerships and applicant pipelines, enhancing relationships with employers and public-sector organizations to improve outcomes, increasing enrollment, advancing technology infrastructure for curricular and outreach use, and promoting faculty scholarship and teaching excellence.
