The Bora Laskin Faculty of Law is a regional law school in Northern Ontario that is committed to making a difference, providing access to justice, and leading the way for northern communities. The Faculty offers mandatory courses in Aboriginal and Indigenous laws, Natural Resources and Environmental Law, and Sole/Small Town Practice. Their Juris Doctor (JD) degree program integrates theory and practice through the Integrated Practice Curriculum (IPC), ensuring graduates are ready to practice law upon graduation. The Dean of the Faculty is responsible for providing visionary strategic direction, academic planning leadership, and administrative oversight, as well as fostering a supportive and collegial culture that reflects a commitment to equity, diversity, and inclusion.Reporting to the Provost and Vice-President (Academic), the Dean oversees all academic, administrative, and operational activities of the Faculty, including the law library and law clinic. The Dean leads in student, faculty, and staff matters, academic programs and research, fiscal and resource stewardship, budgeting, internal and external relations, and strategic planning. Collaborating with internal and external partners, the Dean works to raise the Faculty's achievements, reputation, and resources, promoting interdisciplinary research and teaching across the University. The Dean also develops strong external relationships within the regional and national community, fostering collaborative partnerships with Indigenous communities and other regional stakeholders to address the unique challenges of the rural northern context.
